Baku. Elnur Mammadli – APA. “If the states sign a contract to restart foreign radio stations in Azerbaijan, we can consider this issue,” chairman of National Television and Radio Council Nushiravan Maharramli said, APA reports. He said that the council had expressed its position and taken concrete step with regard to foreign radio broadcasts in Azerbaijan.
“As foreign radio stations, TV channels are broadcasted in accordance with Azerbaijani legislation, we do not accept it. We have already expressed our position, now other bodies should have a say,” he said.

As regards severe reaction of parliamentarians to the council’s decision to stop broadcasting of series in Anatolia Turkish Maharramli said the council was functioning basing on the law on “State language” and “Television and radio broadcasting”.
“Everybody has his own sense. But we do not function basing on such opinions. A program about Azerbaijan was broadcasted on Turkish TV channels some days ago. The speeches of Azerbaijani parliamentarians were shown in subtitles. So, this is so all over the world. Why do they do it, if our languages of similar? This issue will be solved gradually,” he said.
