Ambassador Anne Derse: â€œU.S. considers it necessary to extend discussions for solution to Nagorno Karabakh conflictâ€

Baku. Victoria Dementyevaâ€“APA. â€œEstablishment of relations between Turkey and Armenia can assist the restoration of peace and stability in the regionâ€, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Anne Derse said, APA reports.
The US ambassador reminded that OSCE Minsk Group US Co-Chair Matthew Bryza expressed position of the United States on this issue. â€œMatthew Bryza said that he considered the solution of Nagorno Karabakh problem as very important issue and urged to extend discussions in this directionâ€.
Derse said President Barack Obama phoned to President Ilham Aliyev and they had very sincere conversation. â€œPresident Obama said he wished to develop strengthening of relations with Azerbaijan and supported progresses toward settlement of Nagorno Karabakh problem. It is very important fact. He told the President that the establishment of relations between Turkey and Armenia could have an impact on the normalization of relations in the regionâ€.
The US ambassador appreciated the releasing of Azadliq newspaperâ€™s reporter Mirza Sakit from imprisonment as a positive fact for the Azerbaijani society.
