Baku - APA-Economics. Azerbaijan seeks a fair rate of manat, the country’s Finance Minister, Samir Sharifov, told reporters in Baku Sept. 26.
According to him, in order to determine the fundamental exchange rate of manat, it is necessary to strike a balance between the foreign exchange receipts and foreign payments.
“Foreign exchange earnings in Azerbaijan have reduced slightly. However, after the two devaluations, it was possible to direct the manat’s rate towards a fair track,” the finance minister said.
“There is a need to reduce imports and increase foreign exchange receipts into the country,” he said. “That is, we should strive to bring to the international market other competitive products, in addition to oil.”
