Azerbaijan may delay refund of lost USSR-era bank savings

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov â€“ APA-ECONOMICS. The global financial crisis may delay the refund of the lost Soviet-era bank savings to the population, said a source in the government.
According to the information, the refund of savings may be delayed until early 2012.
Ziyad Samadzade, chairman of a parliamentary commission on economic policy, said the work on the preparation of a bill to regulate the refund of lost bank savings was suspended.
The Soviet-era bank savings with the Savings Bank is estimated to be AZN 600 million ($720 million) in current terms.
