Azerbaijan posts 3% year-on-year rise in foreign investment

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-Economics. The amount of foreign investment injected into the economy in Azerbaijan in 2008 totaled $6 847.4 million, up 2.6% on a year ago, said the State Statistical Committee.
Of this, 56.1% was direct foreign investment and 34.4% was loans.
The amount of foreign investment in oil-gas sector dropped by 16.3%, accounting for 48.9% of the total foreign investments.
Investment by joint and foreign-capitalized enterprises grew by 12.5% to AZN 494.1 million.
