60% of bank deposits held in foreign currencies in Azerbaijan

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-Economics. 58.5% of deposits and savings in Azerbaijan-based banks are held in foreign currencies and 41.5% in home currency (manat). The National Bank of Azerbaijan said the total amount of deposits and savings grew by 32.1% or AZN 1 094.6 million to AZN 4 505.7 million as at January 1.
The amount of national-currency deposits grew by 12.5% and foreign-currency deposits by 50.8% over the past year.
Besides, personal deposits in manat rose by 53.1% and personal deposits in foreign currencies increased by 9.6%.
