Deposit growth lags far behind liabilities growth rate in Azerbaijan

Baku. Vahab Rzayev â€“ APA-Economics. As at January 1, the amount of personal deposits in banks accounted for 18.5% of the liabilities, compared to 21.8% a year ago.
The amount of deposits grew by 29.7% or AZN 435.3 million to AZN 1 903.7 million whereas liabilities rose 52.8% to AZN 10 273.5 million.
That is to say, the growth of deposits lags behind the liabilities growth pace.
By practice, robust participation of individuals in the banking system is proved by the fact that personal deposits account for not less than 30% of liabilities.
