Azeri banks post total capital growth at 48%

Baku. Vahab Rzayev â€“ APA-Economics. As of January 1, the total capital of Azerbaijan-based banks stood at AZN 1 491.7 million, up 47.8% on last year.

Given that average monthly growth in total capital was AZN 40.2 million during eleven months of 2008, the growth reached AZN 67.7 million in December.
Total capital is comprised of the authorized capital and undistributed profit.
As at January 1, the total capital accounted for 14.5% of liabilities of the banks, compared to 15% a year ago.
