Decision on financial matters of TGI to be passed this year

To him, this question will depend on the agreement to be signed between Azerbaijan and Turkey on gas transit.

Speaking about the project, Ozkan said that at present, there is a need for gas in Europe: “But now the demand is not so great. In the long term, demand will increase. TGI project could be ready in the medium term”.

According to Turkish expert, the main source for TGI is Azerbaijan, after 2020 Iraq, Turkmenistan and Iran can join the project as a supplier too: “Through the pipeline it is planned to export 17 billion cubic meters of gas annually, of which 12 billion cubic meters of transport is envisaged to deliver the Western Europe, and 5 billion cubic meters through the existing infrastructure the Eastern Europe”.

Ozkan said that as a result of the project, such countries as Germany, France and Italy will be provided with a gas: “In general, the project is based on real demand. Governments of Italy and Greece support the implementation of this project”.
