Protocol of first meeting of working group on cooperation between Azerbaijan and China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on trade and economic cooperation signed

Baku. Ali Ahmedov â€“ APA-Economics. Today, the 1st meeting of working group on cooperation between Azerbaijan and China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on trade and economic cooperation was held in Baku.

According to APA-Economics, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, head of Azerbaijani delegation Niyazi Safarov spoke about economy of the country, reforms, investment environment in the country, condition for businessmen and legislation. HE noted that, the meeting was aimed to extend the economic, social and energy cooperation regionally. According to him, this meeting will support to strengthen the relations between Azerbaijan and China. He noted that, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and China was over $1 bln and 1/3 or $350 mln came from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Head of Chinese delegation, permanent member of SUMR party committee Hu Wei noted that, this region was located in northern-west of China and nearer Azerbaijan. According to him, the meting will support to strengthen the economic and cultural relations between Azerbaijan and SUMR.

The protocol of 1st meeting of Working Group was signed at the end of the meeting. The protocol covers regional cooperation in trade, investment, energy, agriculture, transport, customs, finance, tourism and health spheres.

The second meeting of Working Group was agreed to hold in the first half of 2013, in Urumchi city.
