Rome hosts 2nd meeting of Azerbaijan-Italian intergovernmental commission

Baku. Victoria Dementyeva - APA-Economics. The delegation led by Azerbaijani Minister of Industry and Power Engineering Natig Aliyev is on a visit to Italy.

Ministryâ€™s press service told APA that the visit aims to participate in the 2nd meeting of Azerbaijan-Italy Intergovernmental Commission held on economic cooperation in Rome. Commission is led by Industry and Energy Minister Natig Aliyev on the Azerbaijani side and Deputy Foreign Minister Senator Alfredo Montika on the Italian side.

The protocol of commissionâ€™s second meeting was signed within framework of the meeting. Cooperation issues in the fields of energy, agriculture, transport, health, culture will be reflected in the protocol.

Moreover, Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Italyâ€™s Ministry of Economic Development and Ministry of Industry and Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in energy sphere was signed at the meeting.

Delivering speech at the press conference devoted to outcomes of the meeting, Montika said that energy sector dominated in trade turnover between the two countries: â€œThat is why, the sides agreed to diversify trade balance, at the same time, cooperation perspectives in development of road infrastructure, housing construction, alternative energy, culture, education, tourism, telecommunication and transport spheres were discussed as wellâ€.

â€œIssues on realization of Southern Corridor, Nabucco and ITGI projects were also dicsuused at the meeting. Transportation of Azerbaijani gas on ITGI and Nabucco projects to Italy via Turkey and Greece will be a significant stage in diversification of transportation routes of energy carries to Europe and international relationsâ€, said Montika.

The delegation headed by Natig Aliyev includes representatives of SOCAR, FM, Economic Development, Finance and Education Ministries. The visit will end on July 8.
