9% of plastic cards operations make cashless payments in Azerbaijan

Baku. Vahab Rzayev â€“ APA-Economics. As of May, 2011, the number of issued plastic cards made 4.353 mln, up 6% or 248,000 from year earlier. According to APA-Economics, 2.447 mln of them were social, 1.294 mln â€“ salary cards, 449,000 â€“debit cards and 133,000 - credit cards.

16.095 mln operations were conducted via cards and amounted AZN 2,168 mln, during 4 months, up 9.7% and 18.2% from year ago.

Number of operations consumed via debit cards made 15.227 mln, and it makes 94.6% of total quantity. Debit card operations amounted AZN 1,934 mln and make 89.2% of total volume. In turn, 867,000 operations have been consumed via credit cards and amounted AZN 233 mln.

The average volume of an operation via debit cards made AZN 127, on credit cards â€“ AZN 268.7.

Note that, 14.627 mln or 90.9% of plastic cards operations made cash operations. These operations made AZN 1,971 mln. Thus, cashless payments via plastic cards made 9%.
