Azerbaijan intends to become member to WTO with useful conditions

Along with the learning of international practice Azerbaijan had membership strategy to WTO. Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev gave detailed information about this.

According to him Azerbaijanâ€™s economy is entering to the new stage of development. THis stage must ensure the meeting of Azerbaijanâ€™s all spheres to the European standards, changing of Azerbaijan to developed country. Azerbaijan intends to strengthen the becoming membership to WTO. Thus, more than 20 laws and regulations were met the European demands and this process are being continued.

At the same time he told that Azerbaijanâ€™s membership strategy took the interests of the country and characteristics of the economy into account. This means that Azerbaijan bears responsibility for development of economy, increasing of competitive, development of non-oil sector.

After the deputy minister the spokeswoman of Ministry Selcan Verdiyeva and Bakhtiyar Alishov. Head of Foreign Trade Policy gave information about the foreign trade policy and current situation of Azerbaijanâ€™s membership to WTO. Thus, Azerbaijan has submitted the application since 1997. The talks are conducted since 2004. Azerbaijan signed several multilateral and bilateral contracts so far and attends the WTOâ€™s meeting as a supervisor. Azerbaijan intends to become a member to WTOS as a developing country. WTO wants Azerbaijan to become a member of WTOS as a developed country.
