The World Bank Office in Azerbaijan to announce opening of the applications period for civil society fund program for 2010
The topic of this year program is “Road Safetyâ€
We invite civil society organizations of Azerbaijan to participate in the CSF10 with projects that propose one time and highly visible and comprehensive activities/campaigns using modern media that would advocate safe movement on roads.
Road traffic injuries and fatalities happen to individuals, but the collective impact on society is often unseen, unspoken, and neglected. Yet, in these countries road traffic fatalities reached epidemic proportions, particularly over the last decade, and people in the countries of the former Soviet Union, the Balkans, the Baltics, Central Europe, and Turkey are two to three times more likely to die from road traffic injuries than people in Western Europe. Road traffic injuries already rank among the top 10 causes of death in countries of Europe and Central Asia, as documented in a recent World Bank report “Confronting ‘Death on Wheels’: Making Roads Safe in Europe and Central Asiaâ€.
The CSF10 supports activities like conferences and other well structured and highly visible fora and events that will help achieve the goals specified above.
Civil Society Fund Program do not support: research programs, formal academic training programs, operational projects, ongoing institutional core support, scholarships, fellowships, study programs, or individuals applying on their own behalf, including for travel or studies.
World Bank has earmarked USD 40,000 for this year’s program. The size of an individual grant ranges from $3,000 to 7,000. Grants projects will be selected on a competitive basis, and will be available to local non-governmental, non-commercial organizations (NGOs) with at least two years of practical and active experience. Applicant organizations are strongly encouraged to show cash or in-kind contribution commitment for the implementation of the project.
The World Bank staff will be available to provide more information and answer your questions at the information session to be held on March 19, 2010 at 11.00 a.m. at the World Bank Office in Azerbaijan at the following address: 90A, Nizami street, the Landmark III, Baku AZ 1010, Azerbaijan.
