Azerbaijan sees household deposits up 23%

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev â€“ APA-ECONOMICS. As at January 1, household deposits in Azerbaijan-based commercial banks stood at AZN 2 334.9 million, up 22.7% from a year ago.

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan said 58.6% of the deposits are held in foreign currencies and 41.4% in mantas. 76.7% of deposits were term deposits.

Household deposits, as other important performance indicators of the banking system, started to increase after declining during the first quarter 2009.

Household deposits declined by 6.9% or AZN 131 million during January-March but grew in April-December.
