State Customs Committee holds board meeting on outcomes of 2009 - <font color=red>PHOTO</font>

On Saturday, the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan held a board meeting on the occasion of January 30 – professional holiday of customs workers and outcomes of 2009. According to APA, chairman of the State Customs Committee (SCC) Aydin Aliyev said professional holiday of the customs workers was annually celebrated on January 30 by the presidential order signed in 1997.

SCC Deputy Chairman Safar Mehdiyev made report on the activity of customs services in 2009 and said despite world financial crisis the customs agencies collected and transferred to the state budget one billion 112.7 million AZN.

He said Azerbaijan conducted 20 818 221.2 thousands dollars trade operations with 138 countries last year, including 14 698 496.6 thousands dollars export and 6 119 724.7 thousands import operations. There was 8 578 771.8 thousands dollars of positive balance in external trade turnover.

Mehdiyev said last versions of the Customs Code were elaborated and submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers and the document expected to be adopted this year.

The deputy chairman also reported about the work done in the field of combating smuggling, illicit drug trafficking, as well as activities in the sphere of information and communication technologies. Then a group of customs workers were awarded for their contribution to the work of customs agencies.
