Azerbaijan gets bank assets up 14%

Baku. Vahab Rzayev â€“ APA-Economics. As of January 1, Azerbaijan-based commercial banksâ€™ assets reached AZN 11 665.17 million, up 13.5% or AZN 1 381.71 million from a year ago, said Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

According to statistics, assets increased by AZN 2 850.21 million after declining by AZN 1 458.5 million during the first quarter 2009.

Loans to customers accounted for 68.27%, correspondent accounts 7.24%, investment 7.17%, cash funds 4%, deposits and loans to the financial sector 5.14%, and other assets 8.19% of the total bank assets.

Bank obligations accounted for 82.81% of AZN 9 660.18 million worth of liabilities.

Deposits made up AZN 4 293.39 million of the obligations, leaving AZN 4 477.88 million to loans and deposits from the financial sector and AZN 888.91 million to other obligations.

The banksâ€™ total capital grew by 17.6% during 2009 to AZN 2 004.98 million.
