Azerbaijan to join WOCCU conference in Las Vegas

Baku. Elnur Huseynguluyev â€“ APA-Economics. World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) and the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) this year will combine two of the credit union movement’s largest educational opportunitiesâ€”the World Credit Union Conference and America’s Credit Union Conferenceâ€”into one in Las Vegas on July 11-14, 2010.

Elchin Baghirov, chairman of Azerbaijan Credit Unions Association (ACUA), said the conference will focus on the results and achievements of 2009, membership-related and other issues.

Azerbaijan will be represented in the event by ACUA.

Elchin Baghirov said he is not due to deliver a report at the conference while he made a speech in WOCCU conference in Barcelona last year.

Azerbaijan joined WOCCU in 2009.
WOCCU is the global trade association and development agency for credit unions. WOCCU promotes the sustainable development of credit unions and other financial cooperatives around the world to empower people through access to high quality and affordable financial services. WOCCU advocates on behalf of the global credit union system before international organizations and works with national governments to improve legislation and regulation. Its technical assistance programs introduce new tools and technologies to strengthen credit unions’ financial performance and increase their outreach.
Worldwide, 54,000 credit unions in 97 countries serve 186 million people. In 2008, World Council’s technical assistance programs reached 6.5 million people in 16 countries.
