Azerbaijan sees five-fold drop in foreign trade surplus

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover with 137 nations during January-November totaled $18.6 billion, including exports of $13.2 billion and imports of $5.4 billion, said the State Statistical Committee.

The trade surplus was $7.8 billion.
As compared to the same period a year ago, foreign trade turnover plunged by 3-fold, exports 3.6-fold, imports 17% and surplus 5-fold.

The country did 53.3% of the trade with Europe, 31.9% with Asia, 13.5% with Americas, 1.2% with Africa and 0.1% with Oceania.

The country’s main trade partners in imports and exports included Italy (19.1%), the United States (9.8%), Russia (8.9%), France (6.5%), Israel (5.8%), Turkey (4.8%), Taiwan (3.7%), Ukraine (3.2%), Germany (3.2%), China (2.9%), Canada (2.8%), Indonesia (2.7%), United Kingdom ( 2.4%), Malaysia (2.3%), Georgia (2.2%) and others (19.7%).
