Government securities market slumps in Azerbaijan

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-ECONOMICS. Azerbaijan saw a sharp decline in the government securities market from January to October 2009, said the State Committee for Securities.

According to statistics, the amount of transactions fell by 61% in value to 2 780 786 000 manats and the number of transactions more than halved.

However, government bonds rose by 17% to 567 739 000 manats during this period.

The volume of transactions on the Central Bankâ€™s notes fell by 81% year-on-year to 338 239 000.

Repo and reverse repo transactions plunged by 63% to 1 874 808 000 manats.
