"We want the existing political leadership of the country to take part in the negotiation process," Yardim said.
Yardim also said Ankara was not opposed to the current Syrian leadership playing some kind of a role in a possible political transition.
He said that Russia and Turkey may have different views on Syria: “However, we share the same view on maintenance of Syria's territorial integrity and political structure as a unified state.
According to the ambassador, a common position should be found on the Syrian issue as soon as possible.
Yardim said that Turkey and Russia will intensify consultations on Syria in the coming days to seek a way out of the crisis. “This international regional conflict is impossible to be solved through a meeting or a negotiation. It is very difficult. However, we agreed on August 9 to intensify our meetings on Syria. The sides expressed their willingness to resume the meetings. All the meetings bring us closer the time when we will find a common point of view on the Syrian issue”, said the Turkish ambassador.
