The lawsuits were filed on Thursday. In their claims, the officials will argue that they were removed by “arbitrary decisions” lacking any legal basis.
On Monday, further rounds of police officials from various police departments were sacked. Murat Akça, head of the intelligence unit of the Sakarya Police Department, was one of those fired. The department made no comment on the reason behind Akça's removal. Furthermore, 15 police officers working for the Antalya Police Department were removed from their posts.
With the latest removals, the number of police officials sacked since the start of the investigation has exceeded 150.
