Georgia's Foreign Ministry has issued a statement condemning the installation of barbed wire fence on the border with Abkhazia, APA's local bureau reported.
According to the statement, this step from Russia has been deemed a gross violation of the fundamental rights of the local population.
"This step restricts the people’s right to free movement, education, and health. This, in turn, will lead to an aggravated humanitarian situation in Abkhazia,” the statement said.
The Foreign Ministry urges Russia to give up its aggressive steps against Georgia, to respect international law, as well as Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
