Baku-APA. Governor of the Bank of Albania (BOA) Ardian Fullani said Friday that Albania's banking sector sustained the global financial crisis, but stil remained capitalized and liquid, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

During a meeting in Tirana with participation of Greek entrepreneurs and representatives of the Albanian business, Fullani said that the business sector in Albania faces challenges that make it necessary to become more competitive.

Fullani said that in 2013, BOA forecasted the country's economic growth at 1.9 percent.

"Hence, our business sector must find new ways and markets to support its activity and growth," Fullani emphasized.

Being the supervisor of the banking sector, Fullani said, the central bank will focus on having capitalized and liquid institutions that constantly improve standards of risk management.

He also said that in the future relations with the banks the central bank will pay special attention to the way they treat credit, market risk and liquidity and how the results of this process are reflected in the decisions they take.
