China's growing threats were discussed at NATO's Vilnius summit, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said at the press conference at the end of the first day of the summit, APA reports.
He stressed that China is not an enemy of NATO, but Beijing is challenging the rules-based international order.
"China is not our enemy and we must continue our joint participation. But Beijing's growing assertiveness affects our security. China is increasing its challenge to the rules-based international order, refusing to condemn Russia's war on Ukraine, threatening Taiwan and building up a large military presence. The speed and scale of China's nuclear modernization are unprecedented and opaque. Allies have agreed to work together to protect against China's threatening behavior," Stoltenberg said.
