“Brussels prefers boycott to dialogue with Georgia, and this is fundamentally contrary to European values,” Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili told journalists, APA’s local bureau reports.

According to him, EU member states are interested in dialogue between Georgia and the European Union.

“Unfortunately, Brussels is currently acting as an obstacle in relations between Georgia and EU member states. It is important for Georgia to maintain relations with member states, because confrontation is not the European way. Unfortunately, the Brussels bureaucracy has chosen precisely this non-European path. The time has come for Brussels to abandon confrontation and return to the European path,” Shalva Papuashvili added.

It should be noted that EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos said today that Brussels would not cooperate with the Georgian authorities unless they move toward European values.
