"We welcome the initiative to nominate Ambassador Feridun Sinirlioğlu, currently the OSCE Secretary General, for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations. We once again emphasize the importance of a selection process guided by the principles and purposes of the UN Charter, based on candidates' professional qualifications, international and diplomatic experience, impartiality, and ability to build consensus among member states," said Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Aykhan Hajizada in response to a media inquiry regarding the nomination of Türkiye's candidate Feridun Sinirlioğlu for the position of UN Secretary-General, APA reports.
"We believe that ongoing consultations and constructive dialogue among member states will result in an appropriate decision that will strengthen the UN's ability to respond more effectively to contemporary global challenges," the MFA spokesperson added.
