Viktor Orbán, Prime Minister of Hungary has stated that, in his opinion, the war in Ukraine will end in 2025, the Hungarian media resource Magyar Nemzet reports, APA reports citing RBC-Ukraine.
Orban outlined two possible scenarios for the end of the conflict: either "peace negotiations" between the warring sides or the "destruction" of one of the sides involved in the war.
"The war will end in 2025. Either it will end with peace negotiations, or one of the warring sides will be destroyed," the Prime Minister said.
According to Viktor Orbán, this year will be a "turning point" not only for Ukraine but also for the world, which could restore peace and return to economic growth.
He added that his country is prepared for an economic "boom" after the war ends.
"We are ready, and we will soar in 2025. Instead of a policy of war, the policy of peaceful years will return, and we will have great economic success again," Viktor Orban said.
The Prime Minister of Hungary also criticized the military spending of Ukraine's allies, noting that America and Europe have spent about €300 billion on the war, which, in his view, could have been used to improve living standards, halt migration, and create a new European defense system.
Furthermore, Viktor Orbán pointed to the devastating consequences of the war: the destruction of Ukraine's infrastructure, demographic losses, and the migration of millions of Ukrainians. However, he did not comment on Russia's actions or Russian war crimes.
In his view, restoring Ukraine's economic capabilities in the coming years remains "unlikely."
