Executive Vice President of the European Commission, Margrethe Vestager, asserted on Wednesday that the halt of the Nord Stream 2 certification process wouldn't cause gas prices to surge in Europe, APA reports citing Teletrader.
"The gas pipeline is not yet operational. What has been done is the pipeline approval process has been stopped, which is necessary for it to be launched. Stopping the approval process cannot have an impact on gas prices, since gas does not flow through this pipeline," Vestager told reporters at a press briefing.
