Baku – APA. There are controversial reports on the death toll in the terrorist attacks in Reyhanli settlement of Hatay province. APA reports that according to Turkish officials 46 people died, 56 people were injured in the terrorist attacks, but the world press reports that the AKP reduces the number of victims of terrorism by 3-4 times to weaken the public reaction. "The Telegraph" newspaper considers that the figure released by the government is non-serious: “The Turkish government tries to distract attention making jocular statements. More than 140 people died as a result of the terrorist attack, a lot of people were injured”. According to French newspaper "Le Monde", the death toll in the terrorist attacks was deliberately cut: “The Turks have a proverb - Feed a crow and it will pluck out your eyes. The opposition, religious extremists in Syria, supported by Turkey, dragged this country into a "bloody swamp", there are more than 120 dead.” “The Sun” reports that under pressure from the government, the Turkish Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) banned the broadcasting of news about the explosions in Hatay, immediately after the terrorist act. The newspaper attributes the RTUK’s decision to the fact that high death tool in the terrorist acts may increase protests against the government in the society. "International TV" reports quoting its sources that at least 116 people died as a result of the terrorist act. BBC reports that Al-Qaeda-linked extremist group Al-Nusra Front claimed the responsibility for the terrorist act.
Various reports about the death toll have also spread on the social network. The residents of Hatay write that at least 176 people died in the terrorist attacks. The Turkish officials haven’t revealed the reason for such a difference in the figures.
