Baku-APA. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday called for support to help the Syrian refugees currently taking shelter in Turkey, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
"We believe that the Turkish people, local media outlets, civil society organizations, officials, institutions and trade unions will make contribution to the campaign," Erdogan said.
Turkish Prime Ministry's Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) said in a statement earlier Wednesday that there were 147,107 Syrian refugees currently staying in Turkey.
Syria has been in unrest for over 21 months, with hundreds of thousands of people fleeing to neighbor countries.
