The U.S. House of Representatives has voted down a resolution opposing the participation of U.S. Armed Forces in military operations in Lebanon.
According to the vote tally, 189 lawmakers supported the measure, while 235 voted against it.
The resolution called on President Donald Trump to withdraw any U.S. military personnel from potential combat operations in Lebanon within seven days.
The authors of the measure acknowledged that U.S. forces are not currently engaged in combat operations in Lebanon but said the purpose of the resolution was to prevent such involvement in the future.
The resolution was non-binding and carried no legal force. The U.S. administration is not obligated to implement recommendations contained in such congressional measures.
