The first meeting of the heads of state institutions responsible for religious affairs of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) has concluded in Shusha, APA's Karabakh bureau reports.
The event was attended by the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, the heads of the competent state institutions responsible for religious affairs of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, as well as members of their delegations.
Opening the event with a welcoming speech, Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs with Religious Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ramin Mammadov said that the event serves to strengthen ties by establishing the institutional foundations of multilateral cooperation among the state institutions responsible for religious affairs within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States.
The meeting continued with discussions on issues such as promoting Islamic solidarity and strengthening the exchange of experience and information in the fight against religious radicalism and extremism.

The participants are discussing the regulation of state-religion relations, religious education and awareness, legislation, personnel training, the preservation of the common religious and cultural heritage, the development of inter-sectarian and interfaith dialogue, and cooperation in combating religious radicalism and extremism.
At the end of the meeting, the parties are expected to sign a Communiqué reflecting their agreed position and future areas of cooperation.
