Switzerland hosts meeting of Russian and Georgian diplomats

The possible ways of normalization of the relations between Russia and Georgia in different spheres were discussed during the meeting, APA reports quoting Russian Foreign Ministry.

"We have confirmed our failure to achieve agreements on various topics. We have focused on the trade, humanitarian and cultural issues and restoration of regular flights. We have agreed to continue the dialogue process on a regular basis.", said Zurab Abashidze.

Grigory Karasin told “RIA Novosti” that the deadlock in Russian-Georgian relations, the importance of improving these relations, finding the specific forms of interaction not affecting Russian political positions were underlined at the meeting:” However, there are still real opportunities to eliminate difficulties arising during Saakashvili’s presidency.

Note that, it is the first meeting held after the war between Georgia and Russia in August, 2008.
