Baku-APA.Hungarian Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi on Thursday said he took Russia as a reliable partner for Hungary, and that ties between the two countries were based on mutual respect and trust, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
Speaking at a news conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Martonyi said Russia was one of the defining and dominant actors in today's global economic system and a key partner of Hungary, adding that bilateral ties were moving forward in a positive direction.
Commenting on a meeting between Hungary Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Lavrov earlier in the day, Martonyi said the message conveyed by the talks was of a clear need to advance economic, scientific, cultural and educational ties between the two countries, with top priority going to energy.
Lavrov, for his part, also said that Moscow valued Budapest's constructive attitude towards EU-Russia relations.
He rejected the notion the EU-Russian relations were in crisis, saying that talks with the EU were constantly underway on all subjects including energy.
