French president urges paired economy with Algeria

Baku-APA. Visiting French President Francois Hollande said here Thursday that France and Algeria have to work on setting up paired economic growth models, during his the second- day visit to the North African nation, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"France has to seize the opportunity offered by Algeria, as we are urged to orient our growth models, in a bid to reach a paired economic development," Hollande was quoted by APS new agency as saying at the Franco-Algerian economic conference held in Algiers.

"Regarding history, present and also the complementarity between the two countries, everything suggests that Algeria is heading to become France's major partner," Hollande said, adding that "The outcome of our cooperation in terms of quantity is excellent, and it can be improved in terms of quality, through the diversification of French investments in Algeria."

On the other side, French president promised that "France will do its best to facilitate the access of Algeria to the WTO," adding that "this access will boost trade exchange between the two nations."

Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, together with the French president, and 40 French businessmen participated in this conference with the theme "the revival of the Algerian-French cooperation."

Seven partnership agreements were signed between France and Algeria at the conference, which marked the beginning of a strategic bilateral cooperation.

Accompanied by a delegation of 200 people, including nine ministers, parliamentarians and businessmen, the French president started Wednesday a two-day visit to Algeria at the invitation of his counterpart Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
