French defense company Dassault Aviation plans to complete development of the F5 standard of its Rafale fighter jet by 2035 as part of the aircraft’s modernization program.
Dassault Aviation CEO Éric Trappier said this in an interview with BFM Business.
“We are currently working on this super fighter called the Rafale F5. We are already engaged in the detailed design of this standard. The delivery timeframe is between 2033 and 2035,” he said.
Trappier added that the aircraft is being developed by France to meet the requirements of the country’s armed forces, with no foreign companies involved in the project.
He also did not rule out the possibility that the new fighter could be offered for export after 2035.
