Czech police said on Friday that they have arrested a man who threatened to shoot up a classroom at a school in Prague, APA reports citing Xinhua.

Police recently received a report concerning the "suspicious behavior" of an 18-year-old student attending a school in Prague's 8 district.

"The man was said to have verbally threatened his classmates that he would shoot up the class and explicitly expressed his hatred towards some of them," police said in a statement.

Investigators also found that the man had expressed an intention to obtain a firearms license and had repeatedly voiced approval of last year's shooting at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague to his classmates.

He allegedly voiced support for committing such an act and stated that he would carry it out in the same manner, police said.

Police arrested the man at his home, where they found airsoft guns and knives. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against him on charges of making dangerous threats and approving a crime. If convicted, he could face up to three years in prison.
