Bulgarian police have detained former Romanian Tourism Minister Elena Udrya, who was sentenced to six years in prison for corruption, APA reports citing TASS.
It is noted that on Thursday, April 7, the National Police received an urgent request from Romanian law enforcement agencies asking for help in detecting a car and persons in it, including the ex-minister, on the territory of Bulgaria.
Udrya was detained near the Kulata checkpoint. She was detained on the basis of a European arrest warrant for 24 hours.
According to the information of the Romanian secret services, Udrea received bribes in the amount of more than 1.1 million euros from various companies while she was at her post. Extradition proceedings will be initiated against the former minister.
