Georgian majority lawmaker renounces MP mandate

MP Vano Zardiashvili, member of the parliamentary majority group, has renounced his MP mandate, APA reports citing Georgian media.

Zardiashvili released a statement on Monday, saying that some people were trying to make him a scapegoat since he became the member of the Parliament.

“My family and young children are behind me, who have to deal with the greatest stress every day. The dignity and human side are above all else for me. Also, there is the team behind me, which struggles for truth and the development of the country every day. While the truth is on my side in this particular case, I really do not want to be a source of provocation for people or political groups trying to create political agendas and damage the positive processes by attacking or throwing mud at me. There is a moment when you have to take care of your family and your team.

I decided to leave the Parliament of Georgia and renounce the mandate of the MP. By taking this step, I once again demonstrate to the public that a job is just a means to serve your country and each citizen. I would also like to thank each member of our team and wish them success and support in the development of the country, ”the statement reads.
