The European Commission will be unable to provide Ukraine with $8 billion to close its defense funding gap, APA reports.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Defense are seeking a source to cover the needs, according to Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko.
"Ukraine will cover over $7 billion of this need through internal resources. This represents savings and a redistribution of expenses. We expect to find another $12 billion through joint efforts. The remaining funds are a critical need, and we are working with the Ministry of Defense to determine a source for funding. The European Commission will not be able to cover it due to a lack of appropriate instruments this year," Marchenko wrote on his Facebook page.
