European Commission proposes disconnecting four more Russian banks from SWIFT

European Commission officials suggested that European countries disconnect several more Russian banks from the SWIFT interbank information transfer system. According to Reuters, Alfa-Bank and Tinkoff are among them, APA reports citing Reuters.

The Commission has proposed to EU countries to exclude four more Russian banks, including private Alfa Bank, Tinkoff online bank and Rosbank, from the SWIFT global messaging system, two diplomatic sources in the EU said on condition of anonymity.

Earlier, the media wrote that the European Union is studying the possibility of imposing restrictions on Rosbank, Tinkoff Bank and the National Wealth Fund of Russia as part of the tenth round of sanctions.

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the new sanctions package will include restrictions on the export of technology to Russia.
