President of European Council Charles Michel has made an appeal to Russian soldiers, who join the war in Ukraine, APA reports.
Delivering a speech at the European Parliament, Michel has noted that servicemen, who do not implement tasks of Russian military leadership, may be provided with shelter.
"I have a message to Russian soldiers participating in the war: If you do not want to take part in killing your Ukrainian sisters and brothers, if you do not want to be a killer, then put aside your weapons, stop fighting, and leave the combat battle. Some officials from member states suggest giving shelter to those, who do not implement tasks of Russian military forces. I think it a valuable idea and should be realized," stressed Charles Michel.
The President of the European Council has noted that there is no limit to the violence of Russian forces against civilians in Ukraine.
Charles Michel has accused Russia of committing a war crime: “We see the reality, those, who commit all of these, should be brought to responsibility and face with heavy consequences.”
