The Central Election Commission of Georgia (CEC) has confirmed the final results of the parliamentary elections held on October 26, APA’s Tbilisi correspondent reports.
The ruling party Georgian Dream won the elections with 53.93% of the votes.
As a result, the party retained its majority status in the 11th convocation of Georgia’s 150-seat parliament, securing 89 mandates.
Note that an incident occurred during the meeting where the CEC announced the results. David Kirtadze, a member of the opposition United National Movement party, threw black paint at CEC Chairman Giorgi Kalandarishvili. Following this, the meeting was temporarily postponed. The CEC Chairman later returned to the hall with a bandaged eye and continued the session. He apologized to the public for the incident.
