3.4 million people have never been on the Internet in Germany

Almost six percent of people between the ages of 16 and 74 in Germany have never been on the Internet, APA reports citing News in Germany.

That shared that Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden on Tuesday, citing surveys on user behavior in the field of communication from the past year. That corresponded to around 3.4 million people. Accordingly, the proportion of so-called offliners was greatest in the group of 65 to 74 year olds.

According to the Federal Statistical Office, one sixth or 17 percent of these had never used the Internet. In contrast, the rate for those under 45 was less than two percent. In the EU, the average for the total population was seven percent, although there were large differences between the countries. In Greece and Portugal it was 14 percent, in Scandinavia and Ireland less than four percent.
