Baku-APA. A book-signing session for Tony Blair’s memoirs at a London bookshop has been cancelled after protesters threatened a repeat of the troubles that marred his weekend visit to Dublin, APA reports quoting The Australian.
The former British prime minister said yesterday that another signing of A Journey that was to have been held today at Waterstone’s book shop, in Piccadilly, had been cancelled because of the "inevitable hassle" of a protest by Stop The War Coalition demonstrators.
In a statement, Mr Blair said: "I have decided not to go ahead with the signing as I don’t want the public to be inconvenienced by the inevitable hassle caused by protesters . . . I do not wish to impose an extra strain on police resources, simply for a book signing. I’m really sorry for those - as ever the majority - who would have come to have their books signed by me in person. I hope they understand."
