Azneft: Leakage on "Neft Dashlari" - Dubendi oil pipeline eliminated

Repair and restoration work on the "Neft Dashlari" (Oil Rocks) - Chilov - Shah Sachi - Dubendi oil pipeline of the "Azneft" Production Union(PU) under the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) was fully completed on February 11 at 12:00. Starting at 13:30, the new pipeline began to be gradually put back into operation, SOCAR told APA-Economics.

It was noted that contact was established with relevant state entities and other operators operating in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea regarding the incident, information exchange and coordination of relevant measures to prevent leakage were carried out.

A number of measures were implemented starting from February 9, when the unstable weather conditions had relatively stabilized. Tankers bypassed the "Neft Dashlari" and transported oil, thus minimizing the impact on production, as well as ensuring the suspension of transportation through the damaged pipeline, thereby eliminating the leakage.

As part of the pipeline repair and restoration process, a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) was launched into the water and a diving service was mobilized. An underwater inspection of the scene was also conducted, and a plan for repair and restoration work was finalized based on the observations.

It should be noted that on February 7, a leakage was observed on the “Neft Dashlari” – Chilov – Shah Sachi – Dubendi oil pipeline of the “Azneft” Production Union.
