Turkmenistan's President: CIS countries have all necessary opportunities to develop cooperation

Turkmenistan will continue to work responsibly with its partners to fulfill the tasks set during its chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov said during his speech at the meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council held in the city of Turkmenbashi, APA's correspondent dispatched to Turkmenistan.

He stated that the meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council is one of the main events in the Commonwealth's annual activities.

"Today, we must review the results of the work carried out and determine the tasks and directions for the coming period."

Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan had approached its responsibilities within the framework of its CIS chairmanship with a sense of responsibility. According to him, the timely holding of the planned events was ensured, meetings of the heads of government and the Economic Council were organized, and the commission on economic issues operated regularly.

The President of Turkmenistan emphasized that the meetings held were substantive and constructive in nature and resulted in the adoption of practical decisions. He thanked the delegations for demonstrating their readiness for cooperation and contributing to the results achieved.

"I am confident that the upcoming discussions and exchanges of views will determine important directions for our future activities. Our unwavering main goal is to ensure the well-being and prosperity of our peoples and to preserve and strengthen the positive and valuable factors that unite us," Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.

He added that the main tasks include realizing the CIS's potential in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres, increasing the Commonwealth's influence and effectiveness in the international arena, and strengthening partnership relations with other reputable organizations.

According to Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the CIS member states have all the necessary opportunities to achieve these goals.

The President of Turkmenistan also drew attention to the fact that this year's meeting coincides with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the CIS.

"This is an important date. Looking back at the path traveled, we can confidently say today that the Commonwealth of Independent States has traveled this path with dignity. Despite objective difficulties, it has been possible to preserve the foundation of cooperation and ensure its character based on equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit," he emphasized.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated that trade and economic relations between CIS countries are developing steadily, with positive dynamics observed in overall trade turnover, particularly in recent years.

According to him, the agenda of political and diplomatic cooperation is also expanding. The CIS format has proven to be a favorable platform for conducting diplomatic consultations on pressing international issues.

The President of Turkmenistan said that humanitarian ties cover culture, science, education, sports, tourism and other important areas. He noted that this cooperation serves to strengthen mutual understanding and trust among the peoples of the CIS and significantly complements interstate relations.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov also stated that interparliamentary cooperation has become noticeably more active.
