The Almaty Declaration played a key role in establishing peace between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, ,Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during his speech at the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in Turkmenbashi, APA's correspondent dispatched to Turkmenistan reports.
He stated that in 2024, Armenia and Azerbaijan signed and ratified the Regulation on the Joint Activities of the Commissions on the Delimitation of the State Border between the two countries.
According to Pashinyan, the Regulation is the first legally binding bilateral document signed between independent Armenia and independent Azerbaijan.
"The document stipulates that the relevant commissions of Armenia and Azerbaijan will be guided by the Almaty Declaration as the fundamental principle in the process of delimiting the state border between the two countries," the Armenian Prime Minister noted.
Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that the Almaty Declaration, one of the founding documents of the CIS, also occupies an important place in the text of the initialed Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to him, the Almaty Declaration is mentioned in the preamble of the Agreement.
