In January of this year, Azerbaijan shipped 3,562.6 million cubic meters of gas through the main gas pipelines, observing a 8% decrease compared to the corresponding figure of the previous year, the State Statistical Committee told APA-Economics.
According to the information, 46.4% of the gas transportation was carried out through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus pipeline.
Gas extracted from the Shah Deniz gas-condensate field is exported through this pipeline.
Thus, during the reporting period, 1,651.5 million cubic meters of gas were transported through this pipeline (a 13.7% decrease).
Note that last year, 40,348.3 million cubic meters of gas were transported through the main gas pipelines in Azerbaijan, marking a 2.7% increase compared to the previous year's figure. 56.6% of the gas transportation was carried out through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus pipeline. During the reporting period, 22,851.9 million cubic meters of gas were transported through this pipeline, which represents a 4.3% increase year-on-year.
